What Customers Say About Kensington Mini Battery Extender and Charger for iPod; iPhone 1G, 3G (Black):

I never really have scientifically tested these claims, as my purpose for buying this wasn't to extend my talk time on my iPhone, it was more to be able to keep using it as an internet browsing tablet for long after the regular battery dies, and for that this accomplishes the task well. There are a lot of so-called "extended" batteries out there for the iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3G S. I decided to research this for use on one of my vacations, since that seems to be the time when you are away from consistent power the most.My search ended at the Kensington Mini Battery Extender and Charger for iPhone and iPod. That's a good feature in my opinion. The manufacturer of the product, Kensington, claims that this device extends play time up to 30 hours of music or 6 hours of video (on iPod nano 3G) or 3 hours of talk (on iPhone). I have yet to bother trying this, but it's a neat little touch.Overall, this is the best battery for the iPhone 3G I could find that is also portable and cheap. It is a very compact, lightweight battery that can be plugged into the dock port on an iPhone or iPod for some extra juice. There are other batteries on the market, namely the Richard Solo 1800, which gets consistently high ratings.

That's a decent amount of extra juice to work with, and totally worth the money to have an emergency battery such as this around. The packaging is sparse, but includes a retractable USB charging cable (it uses the standard "mini" USB connection) and can be charged off any standard USB port. I was running into issues with my iPhone 3G battery being almost dead after only a few hours of heavy use. The Kensington battery charged my iPhone 3G from nearly dead to 70% charge within a short amount of time. But my problem with that battery is the cost (typically double the price of this one) and the fact that it's so bulky on the phone. This battery can be attached to your iPhone and you can still talk on it without looking totally foolish. It also includes a cover for the battery connector, which doubles as a sort of stand you can use to keep your iPhone or iPod Touch standing up to watch movies.

I've been using mine for a few months now, and I'd highly recommend it if you're looking for a spare emergency battery solution that isn't gigantic and has a decent amount of juice to recharge your iPhone with.

I wanted a battery charger for emergencies that I could throw in my purse and forget about. I wanted it instead of a case charger because they're all bulky and ugly. I'd rather change cases when I need a charge.Worth $30 for sure. I have to charge it once in a while to get it to a full charge after it's just been sitting in my purse. The usb cable retracts into a round center station (whatever that's called) - a feature I wish they all had. When I've needed it, it has been very useful even without a full charge. This is good for that purpose except that it loses its charge fairly quickly. I will go ahead and get one now, as this little one is just too much of a hassle.

It sits on the phone awkwardly, but it stays in well and has never fallen out while in use. Overall, it's pretty good. I paid $50 and I think it's more fitting to be in the $30 range for the quality/speed of the charge and awkward fit. That is a nice touch.

When my iPhone runs out of juice, I only plug this bacup charger to my iPhone. Then, it is good to go. I am very happy now.

Broke after about a month. It actually drain the iphone battery no charging it.

The charger stayed nice and cool through both charging applications which was a concern. The charger is about the same size as a Zippo lighter so very compact. The charger also doesn't seem to fit completely tight to my ipod touch so i wont be keeping it in my bag while charging, it seems like it might break off.

Took just under 2hrs for full charge. Drained my touch to 20% at the first warning and plugged it in.

just bought it today and plugged it into my computer to charge. Fast charging both from the computer to charger and charger to ipod.I don't like the idea of not being able to listen to music while charging, but cant have everything.

I turned everything else off on the ipod to see how fast it would charge. It took just over an hour for a 95% charge.I bought this charger for use while flying and it seems like its going to work great.

But it kept a solid connection through charging. The charging indicator lights are a nice feature both for charging from computer and to ipod. Price was reasonable paid 40.00 for mine and seems like a good investment for travelers.
